Working with reporter Cindy Thomas, assistant DA Jill Bernhardt, and medical examiner Claire Washburn, Lindsay tracks a mystifying killer who quickly turns his pursuers into victims. Now everything she’s worked for her entire life hinges on the decision of twelve jurors.
To escape the media circus, Lindsay retreats to the picturesque town of Half Moon Bay. Soon after, a string of grisly murders punches through the community. There are no witnesses; there is no pattern. But a key detail reminds Lindsay of an unsolved murder she worked on years ago.

But Linda’s schoolteacher husband, Lucas Burke, tells a conflicting story that paints Linda as a wayward wife, not a missing person. And there’s reason to believe he may be telling the truth.
While M.E. Claire Washburn harbours theories that run counter to the police investigation of the Burke case, ADA Yuki Castellano sizes Lucas up as a textbook domestic offender – until he puts forward a theory of his own that unexpectedly connects the dots on a constellation of copycat killings. If what Lucas tells law enforcement has even a grain of truth, there isn’t a woman in the state of California who’s safe from the reach of such an unspeakable threat.

I’ve read 1-17 and am reading #18 now. I have always loved this series along with the Michael Bennett Series, Alex Cross series, NYPDRed series, and most of the Private series. I also love many of Patterson’s stand alone books. But, I am upset about the fact that in The 18th Abduction, so far they have completely left out the fact that Lindsay Boxer & her husband Joe have a young daughter! They remembered the dog, but forgot the child. It’s distracting to me. What is wrong with Patterson & Paetro?
So far I’ve read 5. Trying to read in order. At the moment I have just started reading Private. So easy to read and really good.
I am up to 14 but do not have it yet.

Happy to say I’ve read them all, even been lucky enough to watch the original TV series a long, long time ago which featured Angie Harmon as Boxer who has gone on to enjoy notoriety as detective Rizzoli.
