Gregg Hurwitz to create VR series with Keanu Reeves
Bestselling crime author Gregg Hurwitz is writing a new science fiction series for TV, Deadline has reported, to be directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, Godzilla). Keanu Reeves and Stephen Hamel of Company Films will executive produce alongside Emmerich.
Set in the future, the series will see a man escaping his humdrum life by entering into a virtual reality world called New Angeles, taking on a new identity. However, while ‘down the rabbit hole’, the man discovers the keys to a mystery with consequences for both him and his family in the real world.
Emmerich commented, ‘Gregg is an incredibly imaginative writer, and I’m looking forward to bringing his ideas for the show to life’.
Hurwitz is the international bestselling author of 14 thrillers, including Tell No Lies, You’re Next and The Survivor, with Don’t Look Back released this September. His titles have been translated into 22 languages and have been nominated for numerous awards. In addition, he has also written comic books for Marvel and DC, as well as written, developed and produced for television.
The combined genius of Hurwitz, Emmerich and Reeves are enough to make anyone excited, and guarantee it as a series to be keeping an eye on…
